MailArchiver does everything I need: it stores mails from several sources (Exchange, IMAP-Accounts). There are also legal requirements for storing mails for up to 7 years. It happens, that I needed access to older mails (3 and more years old). In today's business a lot is done by mail - even legally important things or contractual topics. I like the ease of selecting specific mailboxes for archiving and the search feature. It has been a godsend as an information repository. Many times a year I go back into archived emails to find threads to prove a point, find information that I failed to record elsewhere, remind me of information I had forgotten and to retrieve documents that I had "lost". Later, I found a fourth reason: OUTSTANDING customer support. There were three initial reasons for deciding for Mail Archiver: ease of use choice of database format (I was already a "power user" of Filemaker) and seamless preservation of the email attachments.

Solutions like PDF archiving for Outlook worked well, but when I gave up Windows for the Mac OS, I despaired of finding a solution for easy preservation in formats that would permit fast searching and attachment preservation. Additionally, a strong search feature and the ability to view emails and attachments from the actual archive were a surprising bonus. Contact with the developer and prompt support were a definite plus. The reports and status updates during the archiving give me good feedback that the application is performing as expected. I am pleased with the results and now have confidence that our emails are completely safe. Thus, it was greatly appreciated that we were given a chance to fully try the software without features crippled on a trial basis.

In 2018 I switched from Mail Steward to Mail Archiver X and recreated my multiyear email archive in Mail Archiver X from scratch, without a hitch. Apple Mail is unwieldy for more than a year’s worth of emails, so I need an archive solution to hold multiyear emails.
